(WHBL) – The needs of adult students trying to earn their degrees in the midst of a pandemic and its related employment slowdowns have prompted the Lakeshore Technical College Foundation to award a record 585 scholarships for the upcoming fall semester. In a normal year that number would be closer to 150.
Vice President of Advancement at LTC, Kristin Liphart, said thanks are owed to donors in the community who, as she said, “really stepped it up this spring and summer to help us.” Major gifts were received from the West Foundation, Inc., the Brotz Family Foundation, as well as numerous individuals and companies.
In order to keep the scholarship funds flowing, the LTC foundation is conducting the “Save a Seat” campaign that hopes to raise $100,000 before September 30th. About a quarter of that goal remains to be raised. Donations to the Save a Seat campaign can be made at yourltcfoundation.com/donate.
