SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – With recoveries outnumbering new cases for more than a week now, active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County now number 146 according to Thursday’s report by the Division of Public Health. One of those is in the hospital. 15 tests have come back positive in the last 24-hours, but 22 persons recovered during the same period. As 503 negative test returns came in, the county’s positive rate since yesterday is just under 3%.
19 facilities are now under investigation for incidents of COVID-19.
7 of those are long-term care facilities, five of them being Skilled Nursing Long-term Care Facilities which were identified. Those are:
Pine Haven-Giddings Avenue Campus (Sheboygan Falls)
Pine Haven-Haven Drive Campus (Sheboygan Falls)
Sheboygan Senior Community
Progressive Health Services
Sunny Ridge
1 other Healthcare facility has an active investigation, 8 non-healthcare workplace investigations are being conducted, and 3 investigations are underway at “Other Settings”.
Although out-of-county, the Sheboygan County daily report informed that Calumet County will offer free COVID-19 testing at the Calumet County Fairgrounds in Chilton next week Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 till 6, and on Thursday August 13th from 9 till 5. No appointment is needed, no symptoms are required and it’s open to anyone over age 5. More information is available at www.calumetcounty.org/881/
Wisconsin’s positive test return rate dropped to 4.7% after rising slightly yesterday. 839 new cases were added to the total so far – 57,779 – and another 55 persons entered hospitals for treatment. 8 more persons have died since yesterday, pushing the death toll to 978. Of the 251 persons hospitalized, 104 are in the ICU, and throughout the state, 340 persons are on ventilators.
