SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Rescue crews did everything they could to save a kayaker who went missing Tuesday in Lake Michigan. Sheboygan Police, Fire, and the Coast Guard were called out at 11:40am to the waters off Deland Park for reports of a missing kayaker.
Witnesses were on scene and directed rescue crews to the last known location of the missing victim. Swimmers went into the water looking for the person, as their kayak washed up on the beach.
A short time later the kayaker was seen in the water, unresponsive. First Responders attempted life-saving efforts, but the victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The accident is under investigation.
