MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The state Department of Health Services reported a more than 50% reduction in new coronavirus cases Monday.
State officials reported 404 new cases, compared to 922 new cases Sunday.
It also reported 6,769 negative test results Monday.
Monday’s 5.6% positive rate was below Sunday’s 9.6%
The state has not had a daily coronavirus case number lower than 404 since June 29, when it reported 315.
Just one new COVID-19 death is being reported by the DHS with the total now at 949.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 966, 763 people have been tested, with 55,328 positive cases and 911,435 negative test results.
The DHS considers 44,495 patients to have recovered from the new coronavirus with the number of active COVID-19 cases on Monday at 9,866 according to the DHS.
The DHS says Wisconsin hospitals are reporting that 2,559 beds are immediately available out of the 11,558 total beds.
There are 296 total COVID-19 patients seeking care with 106 in the ICU, six more ICU patients than what was reported Sunday.
There are 105 hospital patients are still waiting for COVID-19 test results.
The state has a supply of 1,995 ventilators with 321 in use.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
