HOWARDS GROVE, WI (WHBL) – When students return to classes in the Howards Grove District, most are expected to attend in-person, but virtual options are in place. Like most school systems, comprehensive plans were developed to address life under pandemic conditions, and as seen on their website, face coverings will be required in school and on the bus, desks will be socially-distanced, age-appropriate hand hygiene and infection prevention will be taught, and parents will be asked to screen their children before sending them to class.
Those using the bus will be assigned seats with family members grouped together, and food, drink and gum are prohibited. Backpacks – no lockers – will be used in the High School. Water fountains will be turned off in all schools. Students are to bring their own bottled water instead and fillers are now being installed.
Those wanting the virtual option will have to commit each quarter with approval of the principal. Internet hotspots will be provided to those who need access, and Chromebooks will be loaned to students on a case-by-case basis. And if illness strikes, the student will automatically attend virtual classes during the two-week quarantine.
Those interested can find the complete plans online at hgtigers.org.
