MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — State officials reported an additional 15 people died in Wisconsin from the coronavirus Friday.
The state Department of Health Services reported 832 new cases Friday. There were also 14,547 negative tests. The 5.4% positive rate was below Thursday’s 6.1%
The numbers come out on the eve of when Gov. Tony Evers’ statewide mask mandate goes into effect.
With 15 new deaths reported Friday, it brings the state total to 934.
Since the pandemic began, Wisconsin has recorded 52,940 total cases and 882,149 negative tests.
DHS considers 42,317 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
DHS said 255 patients in Wisconsin hospitals on Friday had tested positive for coronavirus, with 108 of those in intensive care units. Another 132 were waiting for their test results.
There were 2,111 ventilators in state hospitals, with 334 in use.
Of the 11,525 hospital beds, 2,352 were available.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
