(WHBL) – A years-long fundraising effort will see first fruits Wednesday afternoon as ground is broken for a new multi-purpose educational building at the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park. The Friends of the Sheboygan Marsh, Inc. are behind the project designed to host thousands of children from schools and recreational groups throughout Sheboygan and neighboring counties.
Besides classrooms and meetings facilities, the building will also replace the showers and restrooms used by campgrounds at the marsh park, and will be operated by the Camp Y-Koda Outdoor Skills and Recreation Program.
Support of the new building has come from many local area businesses and individuals and so far, $1.7 million of the $2.1 million goal has been raised. Groundbreaking is set for 5 PM Wednesday.
