SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – 20 Sheboygan County residents received the bad news since Wednesday that their COVID-19 test was positive, raising the County total to 453 cases. As 429 persons received the better news of a negative test result, the positive return rate is just shy of 4.5%. Three persons remain hospitalized in Sheboygan County for treatment of a coronavirus infection.
62 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Sheboygan County so far this week, accounting for more than 13% of all cases recorded here since March.
Broken down into age groups, the 20-39 range accounts for the majority of cases at 170. 40-59-year-olds accounted for 130 of county positive test returns, and 71 were experienced in those ages 0-19. That category, initially trailing all others, has been steadily gaining recently. Those 60-79 years old account for 66 cases, and 16 have occurred in those 80 and older.
The investigations that have been underway at Sheboygan progressive Health Services and the Giddings Avenue campus of Pine Haven in Falls are still active according to the weekly Facility-Wide Investigations report. Another, unnamed long-term care facility also hosts an active investigation. In addition, 4 investigations are underway at non-health care workplaces, and 4 continue at what are categorized as “other” settings.
Wisconsin added 1,052 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, marking the second time that over 1,000 cases were confirmed in a single day. This raises the state total cases of the illness to 45,899. 14,212 persons received negative test results, yielding a positive test rate return of 6.7%. That’s an increase over Wednesday’s 4.8%, reversing a 3-day trend of lower returns. 48 more persons were hospitalized, and 13 more persons died of from a coronavirus infection, raising the state death toll to 878.
