PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) – To mask, or not to mask? That is a question faced by many municipalities in Wisconsin in the absence of a statewide directive, and the City of Plymouth looks poised to take on that question.
At Tuesday’s upcoming Common Council meeting, Hub City leaders will take up a resolution that calls for the formation of an ad-hoc committee that will gather data, findings and other information from scientifically-credible sources regarding the role of face masks in reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The resolution cites the over 400 cases of the disease and 5 deaths associated with it in the county, as well as recommendations from the CDC and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The Plymouth committee will weigh the evidence and guide the Common Council in developing any local rules concerning the wearing of masks in public.
Results of their study would be presented to the Plymouth Common Council by September 8th along with any recommendation as to what, if any, masking requirement is appropriate and necessary within the City of Plymouth.
