SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The rate of positive test returns in Sheboygan County has dropped to 1% according to Wednesday’s COVID-19 report from the Division of Public Health. This, as the state rate dropped for a 3rd consecutive day to 4.8%. 14,780 – a new daily high of total tests returned, was reported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services today, as the confirmed case number of COVID-19 reached 44,847.
A total of 982 Sheboygan County test returns were received since yesterday, and the 10 new positives raised the county total to 433. The relatively large number of test returns included 449 negatives that were conducted as part of routine testing of long term care facility staff. Of the 104 active cases, 3 are hospitalized. Another 18 persons no longer display symptoms of COVID-19 and are considered recovered. Six more deaths due to the illness were recorded in Wisconsin since Tuesday.
The County DPH today emphasized in their report that wearing a facemask is a simple way to decrease the spread of COVID-19. To be effective, though, the mask must cover both the nose and the mouth.
