SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Almost one-quarter of the 15,101 COVID-19 tests conducted so far in Sheboygan County were done during mass sampling sessions operated by the Wisconsin National Guard. Figures reported yesterday by the Guard indicate that they sampled nearly 3,200 county residents since they first participated on April 5th at Sunny Ridge.
The Wisconsin National Guard’s specimen collection teams are deployed when local health departments need their support to test large numbers in a short amount of time. Such mass-testing in Sheboygan County has tallied as few as 50 specimens in a one-day session, but as many as over 1,400 when they collected samples at the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution over a 3-day period in late June.
Most recently they collected over 350 specimens at two senior living facilities in Sheboygan Falls just last week.
