MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)– The Wisconsin Department of Health Services are reporting 978 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.
The 978 new cases is the most recorded in a single day after Tuesday, July 14 had 964 new COVID-19 cases.
A total of 12,424 test results were gathered on Saturday, a decrease from Friday’s 13,407 results.
The 978 positive results from Saturday accounts for 7.9% of the total results reported , an increase from Friday’s 6.6%.
Ten new COVID-19 deaths are also being reported on Saturday by state health officials, the death toll in Wisconsin is now 843.
The DHS also says that COVID-19 recoveries are up to 32,004, which is 746 more than on Friday.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the state has had a total of 765,128 people tested, 41,485 positive cases, and 723,643 negative test results.
Wisconsin hospitals are reporting that there is 315 COVID-19 patients seeking hospital care as of Saturday, a decrease from Friday’s reported number of 331 patients.
89 of the 315 patients are in intensive care units.
There are 2,658 hospital beds immediately available throughout the state, per the DHS.
There is a statewide supply of 1,270 ventilators with 293 patients receiving ventilation.
