MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As COVID-19 hospitalizations jumped on Friday, Wisconsin reported 880 new positive tests for coronavirus.
The state Department of Health Services says the positive tests made up 6.6% of the 13,407 total tests reported on Friday.
There have now been 40,507 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, in Wisconsin. Another 712,197 negative tests have been reported.
The state reported two new deaths on Friday, bringing the total to 833.
DHS considers 31,258 people to have recovered from COVID-19.
Hospitalizations have increased more than 40% in 13 days. On July 4, 235 COVID-19 patients were in Wisconsin hospitals. That was the lowest number since April.
Hospitals said they had 1,263 ventilators on hand, with 302 in use.
Of the 2,552 hospital beds in the state, 11,406 were available.
