SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Beginning Monday, July 20th, all people ages 3 and up visiting the Mead Public Library will be required to wear a face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times when inside the library.
The requirement announcement Monday is, according to library officials, to protect the health and safety of visitors, staff, volunteers and the wider community. Those without a face covering will be provided one free of charge courtesy of the Sheboygan County Mask Makers. Staff and volunteers were already under mask requirements; the new rules now apply to visitors.
The library acknowledges that some might object, but that they’re erring on the side of caution and in agreement with research that suggests that face coverings can significantly reduce the spread of COVID-19.
With the new policy in place, the 3rd floor Children’s Library will reopen on a limited basis. Preparations are underway to do that in early August.
