SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Sheboygan County Lenders are being thanked by the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation for stepping up when needed to provide emergency funding to businesses trying to weather the coronavirus pandemic storm.
According to figures from the Small Business Administration and announced yesterday by the SCEDC, as of June 30th, 1,467 Sheboygan County businesses have been issued over $180 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans, and 85% of those funds were handled by lenders with local facilities.
The PPP program was launched on April 3rd. Loans are forgivable and designed to keep business owners and their workers on the payroll. It’s estimated that there are still over 2,000 more Sheboygan County small businesses that may qualify for a PPP loan, and applications are being accepted through August 8th by the Small Business Development Center of the University of Wisconsin System.
