(WHBL) – Yet another traditional in-person activity has gone virtual, as the Ellwood H. May Environmental Park – better known as Maywood – is transitioning this year’s 21st Annual Earth Ride to the virtual “Earth Miles 4 Maywood”, now scheduled for September 19th.
The environmental park, owned by the City of Sheboygan, but largely dependent upon its own fundraising efforts for operations, has already seen many of its income generators cancelled this year. Those include its most popular event – flapjack days, which like many others fell victim to the coronavirus pandemic.
Director Dave Kuckuck says the decision to move to a virtual event came after looking at many aspects of the Maywood Earth Ride and the health concerns of COVID-19, and its hoped that their local and global friends will find more flexibility to virtually support the park.
Earth Miles 4 Maywood will allow participants to choose their activities such as biking, walking or paddling, and also select the date, time and place for their participation.
Information and registration options for the virtual Earth Miles 4 Maywood can be found at http://www.gomaywood.org/earth_miles_main.htmor by emailing maywood@sheboyganwi.gov.
