(WHBL) – We’ll be spending much of this week immersed in what could be the hottest weather of the summer, with highs likely to reach 90 and above and heat indices near 100.
The US Department of Transportation wants you to “Park, Look and Lock” before leaving your car to prevent the tragedy of children dying in a hot car. That happened 52 times last year, and 53 times the year before.
Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao says that all those could have been prevented if a double-check was done when parking the car. The idea to keep in mind is to never leave a child unattended in a car, and to lock the car when not in use to prevent children from entering the heated car.
Relief from the heat should come this weekend, but hot sun will still pose a danger for weeks to come.
