Keith A. Diels, 55, of Plymouth passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2020.
Keith was born on July 16, 1964 in Plymouth, a son to the late Vernon R. and Helen (Backhaus) Diels. He
attended schools in Plymouth, graduating from Plymouth High School. Keith worked as a mason and
concrete finisher for various constructions firms which included R & R Concrete and Mike Koening
Construction. Having worked for many years in the construction industry Keith loved watching projects
as they developed especially if it was for family or friends. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family
and friends, fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, and taking trips up north to the family cabin, near
Crivitz. Over the years, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Stash, Taz, and Blondie, Saturday night
bonfires at his home in Little Elkhart Lake, and a Sunday morning Bloody Mary. He was a former
member of The Plymouth Eagles Club.
Keith is survived by his son, Travis Diels (special friend, Abby Martinez) of Sheboygan Falls; a grandson,
Hayden Diels; his brothers and sisters, Cindy (Russ) Walter of Florida, Kathy (Dennis) Schram of
Plymouth, twin brother Kevin (Carla) Diels of Muskego and Steve (Tracy) Diels of Plymouth; his special
friend and Travis’s mother, Kathy Zukaitis of Plymouth and step children Jamie Schmid of Portland,
Leanne Schmid and daughter Hannah Schmid of Plymouth, and Kristopher Schmid of Little Chute. Very
loving nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many friends further survive. He is preceded in death
by his parents, a sister, Connie Homman, a brother-in-law, David Pearce, and a step-daughter, Lee
Miller.
Travis would like to extend his grateful and heartfelt appreciation to his mother, Kathy Zukaitis, his Aunt,
Kathy Schram, and his sister, Leanne Schmid, for the care they gave to his father.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 18 th , at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Plymouth with
a celebration of Keith’s life to follow at the home of his son, N7148 Meadowlark Road, Sheboygan Falls.
In following Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
