SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Less than 1% of Sheboygan County residents, 1 total, receiving their test returns in the last 24 hours was positive for COVID-19, while 171 got negative results. 17 cases are active, one of those hospitalized, and with 3 more recoveries, that total now numbers 170.
As a county, and rated per the Activity Level dashboard provided by the State Department of Health Services, Sheboygan County is experiencing a moderately high burden of cases. The trend, though, is downward, and the activity level is considered medium.
In Wisconsin, 464 tests came back positive, while 10,758 were negative since Wednesday…a 4.1% rate. Deaths now number 757, with 6 more dying since yesterday.
The Badger Bounce Back program, although advisory only since the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled in May that there was no authority by either the Governor or Director of Health Services to extend the executive order that imposed penalties for violations, had only two of six metrics “in the green”: Hospital capacity to treat all patients, and affirmation that hospitals have arranged for testing for all symptomatic clinical staff treating patients at the hospital per CDC guidelines. The others – a downward trend of health care workers contracting COVID-19, a like trajectory in percent of positive test returns over a 14-day period, the number of suspect coronavirus cases and that of influenza-like illnesses, are all failing to reach goals, and the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is increasing at a nearly steady rate since the end of May.
The weekly report on Facility-wide investigations by the Sheboygan County Division of Health Services shows 4 active investigations, while another 7 have been resolved. 2 of the actives are at long-term care facilities, 1 is at a non-healthcare workplace, and another is ongoing in a setting such as adult or child day care center, restaurant, event space or religious setting.
The only investigation identified in the report is an ongoing investigation at the Sheboygan Senior Community…no other information was provided.
