SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – 2 more positive and another 939 negative – comprising, by far, the largest single reported daily total tests at 941 – were included in Friday’s report of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County by the Division of Health Services. 694 of those were associated with investigations where two long-term care facilities tested all staff. In those instances, all staff tests came back negative. More on facility-wide investigations later, but first; other numbers showed 4 more recoveries, yielding 43 active cases of COVID-19 here. Two of those cases are currently hospitalized, up one from Thursday. The age group experiencing the largest number of cases so far is that of 20-39 year olds with 62 cases. 51 were experienced in those 40-59, 38 were between 60 and 79 years old. 19 were under 20, and 9 were over 80.
The County DPH emphasizes that no single vector has been blamed for the spread of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County. Instead, all modes are implicated…family member-to-member, workplace, large gatherings, workplace, community spread…none is exempt, and following guidelines from the CDC, State DHS and County DPH must still be followed to minimize the spread of the coronavirus.
Thursday’s report by the County Division of Health Services on Facility-Wide Investigations showed 5 active and 6 resolved cases. 2 of the currently active investigations involve long-term care facilities. 1 involves a non-health care setting, such as a manufacturing & production facility, distribution operation, office or other indoor workspace, and another 2 are being conducted at long-term care facilities. One facility still known to be under investigation is that of the Pentacostals of Sheboygan County Church in Sheboygan Falls, where 23 confirmed cases were found. No additional cases have since been traced to that source after initial findings were announced earlier this week.
