SHEBOYGAN , WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health today outlined its ongoing investigation of a church where 23 cases of the coronavirus were confirmed. The follow-up and contact tracing for that facility was completed as of yesterday.
The County DPH voiced its appreciation for the “partnership and church leadership who acted quickly to notify church members and more to virtual services once cases were identified.” DPH Officer Starrlene Grossman said that the church has worked closely with the agency to help reduce further spread of disease and has reached out to their members to keep them informed.
Grossman noted that the outbreak there happened even as the church was following CDC guidelines by only filling their facility at 25% capacity and blocking off every other row to maintain physical distancing. The DPH release concluded its communique saying that COVID-19 continues to be very contagious, and that interactions with others should be limited as much as possible to protect the community as well as the capacity of the health care system.
As of today, another 3 positive test returns puts the running total of COVID-19 cases in the county at 177. With another 5 recoveries, the active cases now number 45, one of which is hospitalized. Another 88 persons tested negative in the last 24-hours, yielding a 3-1/3% positive test return rate. Wisconsin added another 422 cases to its total, now at 23,454. That’s 4% of tests, which also turned up 10,277 negatives. 7 more persons died, raising the state death toll to 719.
