SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Eleven new positive test returns for COVID-19 were recorded by the Sheboygan County Division of Health Services in Saturday’s daily update. That brings the running total to 163 confirmed cases of the coronavirus that’s sweeping the globe. With the recovery of 3 cases, that leaves 8 persons actively battling the virus, with one of those hospitalized. Another 302 tests were negative. The positive return rate in the last 24 hours in our county was just over 3.6%. The growth of case numbers this week has been significant, with 4 cases added Monday, 5 on Tuesday, 7 Wednesday, 11 on Thursday, 10 Friday and another 11 today. Demographically in Sheboygan County, the 20-39 age group has had the largest number of cases at 48. 44 persons ages 40-59 have experienced a coronavirus infection. 37 were between ages 60 and 79, 14 were under age 20 and 9 were 80 and older.
Statewide, 11,037 negative tests were returned since Friday, while 272 – or 2.4% of all tests – came back positive for COVID-19. 2/3 of the metrics employed by the state to determine when to adjust recommendations incrementally for the reopening a full economy, fail to meet their targets. Three more persons in Wisconsin have died due to a coronavirus infection in the last day, raising the state toll to 691.
