SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Friday’s daily report by the Sheboygan County Division of Health Services listed another 10 positive test returns, while the weekly “Facility Wide Investigation” resource showed a variety of settings where COVID-19 is suspected of having been transmitted.
By the numbers, the 10 new confirmed cases raises the county total to 152. 43 cases – a new high – are active. One of those is hospitalized, while 105 others have since recovered from having the illness. 126 negative test returns were added to a running total of 5,539 in the county.
Statewide, a backslide of indicators is becoming apparent, as the key “downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total test within a 14-day period”, now fails criteria that would justify the state easing its guidelines for reopening a full economy in stages. The other three metrics in need of improvement are the trends in reports of flu-like illnesses in a 14-day period, and likewise the downward trajectory of COVID-like syndromic cases reported in a 14-day stretch. Health care workers are also failing to show a decreasing trend, calculated weekly, of contracting COVID-19 while caring for their patients.
320 more Wisconsinites had positive test returns since Thursday, raising to 22,246 the number of cases in the state. 11,308 more negative results were recorded. 7 more persons died with COVID-19.
FACILITY-WIDE INVESTIGATIONS
The County DHS “Facility-wide Investigations” dashboard illustrated the several current suspected pathways through which the pandemic is spreading locally.
4 “Facility-wide Investigations” are currently underway, while 4 previous ones were resolved.
There have been no “Group Housing Facility Investigations” to date.
“Healthcare Investigations” show only 1 case, now resolved.
2 “Non-healthcare Workplace Investigations” are underway, the only such so far.
2 “Other Setting Investigations”, those being adult or child day care centers, restaurants, event spaces, and religious settings, are also currently underway.
Per County Rules, the only identifying information that they will report would concern “Any facility that is a congregate living facility (Long Term Care, Assisted Living, community-based residential facility and residential care apartment complexes, etc)”, none of which yet have been involved with an investigation. Any other info is at the discretion of the facility involved.
