SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – A 4th Sheboygan County Resident has died of COVID-19, the first since 3 Sunny Ridge residents succumbed to the illness in March. Though the deceased was not identified, information from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health indicates the person was between the ages of 40 and 59 years old.
Another 5 persons in the county have had positive test returns since yesterday, raising the total number here to 124. 302 negative tests were reported, 126 of those from a single facility whose residents and staff were tested, and nobody there had the disease. 26 cases are now active here while 94 have recovered, and there are currently no hospitalizations.
Besides recording the first death other than from those 60 and older, the overall demographics based upon age group has shifted recently, with 20 to 39-year-olds now representing the most number of cases at 38. 36 have been identified in the 40-59 group, 34 between 60 and 79, 9 in those 80 and older, and 7 were under the age of 20.
In Wisconsin, the 14-day downward trend of suspected COVID-19 cases has been interrupted with the addition of 270 positive test returns since Monday. That’s 1.9% of total test returns, and this raises the state total to 21,308. 15 persons, including the Sheboygan County case, have died since Monday raising the state total to 661. Besides the 14-day trend of cases, the rate of flu-related illnesses and numbers of health care workers with COVID-19 in Wisconsin are also failing to satisfy criteria that would justify further lessening of restrictions recommended by the State Department of Health Services.
