SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – If spare time spent isolating from the pandemic at home has turned up some items that are hard to dispose of, then upcoming household hazardous waste collections might be just what you need.
Sheboygan County is reminding residents of collections coming up Friday, June 19th from 1 till 4:30 PM at the Ellwood H. May Environmental Park in Sheboygan, and on Saturday the 20th from 8 till 11 AM at the Sheboygan County Highway Department Shed in Cascade. A previous collection scheduled for April was cancelled due to the pandemic.
Properly disposing of waste such as unused lawn and garden chemicals and electronics is important for keeping hazardous materials out of the environment where they can contaminate groundwater, rivers and lakes.
Unused, damaged, or even old, and now banned chemicals can be disposed of during the collections. Charges are by the carload, and are $10 for cars with only hazardous waste, $30 per car for up to 6 electronic items. Those with electronic items may add hazardous waste disposal at no additional charge.
