SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – Mass community testing done this past week at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds resulted in more than 250 persons being tested for COVID-19, according to the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs. The collection was done by one of 25 teams operating across Wisconsin supporting local health departments and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. One of the earliest testing operations done in the state by the Wisconsin National Guard was the April 5th testing of 170 staff and residents at Sunny Ridge.
The 250+ persons tested this past week was the only data released about the 3-day operation. The increased numbers didn’t immediately impact the usual daily figures reported by the Sheboygan County Division of Health Services, as those tests were sent to a lab for processing, and individuals receive their results via a phone call within three-to-seven days following the test. There was a bump of 5 new cases in Monday’s report, but it was not known if those were connected with the mass testing event.
