SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Two more cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County have been confirmed since Saturday, raising the total found in the county to 91. Another 44 persons tested negative, and of the 9 cases currently active, there are no hospitalizations. 79 county residents have recovered from a coronavirus infection.
Within the State of Wisconsin, 173 more persons, or 2.3% of all tested since yesterday, have been found to have the coronavirus, while another 7,195 persons were negative. The 7,368 persons tested is the least in the state since May 23rd, and the 173 positive is the lowest total since May 18th.
Even with small progress in some of the numbers, the 6 metrics used to guide the Badger Bounce Back Program for the state as a whole have struggled to achieve goals in reducing new flu-like illnesses, numbers of health care workers contracting COVID-19, and the downward trajectory of positive percent of daily tests within a 14-day period. The other three metrics…downward trajectory in the number of COVID-like illnesses reported, and two others concerning hospital capacity, have been reached and mostly maintained for some time.
Sheboygan County Division of Public Health also reminded residents in their Sunday update that Sheboygan County remains in the first of 3 phases that comprise the Sheboygan County Safe Restart Plan, and so the DPH still does not advise large gatherings, and there is no projected timeframe available as to when this advisory would change. For the time being, that puts the damper on such events as fairs, concerts, festivals, parades and conferences. Should one choose to organize a gathering despite guidance to the contrary, they are urged to follow the recommendations set forth in the Sheboygan County Safe Restart Plan and those of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Links to those are included in the daily report at the DPH website.
