(WHBL) – Application and registration for new students at LTC has become easier as steps were taken to eliminate several barriers, and the results are clear. The college no longer requires an application fee or a placement test known as Accuplacer®. That test, which came with a $25 fee, was used to help college administrators match new students to courses that match their skills and abilities.
Also, applicants previously had to come up with a separate $30 application fee, which many were finding hard to afford without a credit or debit card – especially during the pandemic. According to LTC Director of Student Outreach Rhetta Earle, those fees were proving to be a significant barrier to some who wanted to attend.
Since their elimination, online applications are up 98% this month compared to the same time last year.
