SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Since March 25th, Shoreline Metro has been operating a reduced schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But on June 1st the transit system will begin to return to full service in phases, according to the Director of Transit and Parking Derek Muench.
On Monday the return to half-hourly weekday service between 5:45 AM and 5:45 PM will be the first phase. Then on June 8th capacity will increase to 15 customers per bus. Currently there is one-hour service midday and a 10-person capacity.
Additional service will be phased in over the next six weeks. Muench said that it’s a balancing act for the available staff to perform the usual route assignments plus the additional thorough cleaning of vehicles and the offices to address coronavirus issues but, he said, they look forward to rebuilding a safe and effective operation for customers and employees alike.
