SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – There have been no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Sheboygan County since Saturday, the 23rd, and with another 4 recovering since yesterday, only 8 active cases of the coronavirus are known in Sheboygan County. Nobody here is currently hospitalized. Another 113 persons – all negative – have been tested in Sheboygan County as mass testing is staged to begin in earnest tomorrow for a 3-day run at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth. That drive-through option is available for those 5 and older displaying symptoms of COVID-19, free of charge and without an appointment. Hours will be from 11-7 Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday the 30th from 8 till 4.
Across Wisconsin another 22 persons have died in the last 24-hours, raising the state death toll to 539. A record number of persons were tested since Tuesday. Of the 10,730 tests administered, 599 – or 5.8% – were positive, interrupting the 14-day downward trend that had been established since the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
The City of Sheboygan announced today that the Department of Public Works office would remain closed to the public until Monday, June 1st so it could modify the public service counter to meet recommended guidelines in relation to COVID-19. Once again open, a limit of two customers observing social distancing requirements will be allowed at the counter, and any additional will need to wait either in their car or in the vestibule area, again with social distancing observed. Masks are strongly recommended by the DPW.
