WELLINGTON (Reuters) – New Zealand’s employment fell by a record 37,500 in April, due to the impact of COVID-19 and the restrictions placed on social and economic activity, the statistics agency said on Thursday.
April’s fall is largest since the current jobs series began more than 20 years ago, Statistics New Zealand said in a statement.
The total filled jobs fell 1.7% in April compared with the previous month.
