SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – 4,908 Wisconsinites were tested for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and only 193 of them were positive – the second consecutive day in which less than 200 new cases were identified. And given that almost 1900 more tests were conducted than the day before, the percent of positive results plunged to 3.9%, continuing a crucial trend needed to satisfy criteria required to reopen the state from lockdown. 9 more persons died of coronavirus, raising the state toll to 418.
Within Sheboygan County, total positive returns remain at 68, with no new cases recorded since Saturday’s report. One more person has recovered, leaving active cases at 16. 1 person remains hospitalized with the disease. 33 county residents were tested since yesterday – all negative – bringing total negative returns to 1,601, or 95.8% of all tested.
All three deaths due to COVID-19 in Sheboygan County were associated with long-term care or assisted living facilities. Two were connected to the Sunny Ridge outbreak that began in late March. The third was at a second, unnamed assisted living facility. A third such facility was also investigated but has remained unnamed. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services plans to release the names of all affected facilities within the next few days.
