SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – A third person in Sheboygan County has fallen victim to COVID-19 as confirmed in Friday’s update by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. The person was only identified as someone 60 and older, a resident of the assisted living facility which reported an outbreak in late April, and was among the total 384 persons now deceased from COVID-19 in Wisconsin. County Public Health Officer Starrlene Grossman said that: “While we continue to fight together against COVID-19, our thoughts go out to the family and loved ones of the individual who has passed.”
With this, there are no longer any cases of COVID-19 associated with any long-term care facility in Sheboygan County, however the facilities will remain under investigation by the Wisconsin DHS.
Another 45 persons were tested for the coronavirus – all negative – and two more have recovered leaving the total number of Sheboygan County active cases at 17 with one hospitalized. The total number of County cases remains 67.
Across the State, another 4,194 persons were tested, yielding 375 positive results. That is an increase in percentage of positive results out of the total tested, re-setting the benchmark for initiating re-opening of Wisconsin under the Badger Bounce Back to no earlier than May 23rd.
While awaiting the so-called “gating criteria” to fall into place for the Badger Bounce Back, Governor Evers today announced Best Practices and Safety Guidelines for Wisconsin businesses looking to keep workers, customers and families safe while “turning the dial” toward reopening. A brochure outlining the guidelines includes making sure that employees who are sick don’t come to work, curtailing business travel whenever possible, promoting telecommuting and work-from-home options, and ensuring employees are equipped with sanitizers and PPE when appropriate.
