WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A leaked document on how to safely reopen states prepared by officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was never cleared by CDC leadership, a White House official said on Thursday, cautioning against “overly prescriptive” guidance.
“Issuing overly specific instructions – that CDC leadership never cleared – for how various types of businesses open up would be overly prescriptive and broad for the various circumstances States are experiencing throughout the country,” the official with the White House coronavirus task force said.
The official, reacting to a report from the Associated Press on the detailed CDC guidance, declined to be identified.
