SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – Another two persons in Sheboygan County have tested positive for COVID-19, raising our total number of cases during the pandemic to 50. Those are the first new cases recorded since Sunday. Recoveries remained at 41; 7 active cases are under observation…nobody is hospitalized. 37 persons were tested since Wednesday’s report.
Across the state, the first key “gating criteria” required to be met in order to start the “Badger Bounce Back” plan suffered a setback. 14 consecutive days of downward-trending positive tests (as a percentage of total tested in the last day) are needed, but that figure rose from Wednesday’s 6.9% to 10.8%. The highest percentage so far was 11.9% on April 22nd.
Also contained in today’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health was the announcement that Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center’s Emergency Department is now open and available to provide all types of emergency medical care. Patients were being encouraged to seek care there for emergencies such as chest pain, heart attack, stroke symptoms, injuries and more, and should not delay care during the pandemic. Aurora stated that it was well-equipped and taking proactive measures to prevent the spread of all infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
