SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Army Corps of Engineers has been busy around the country helping to construct alternate care facilities for the surge of coronavirus patients, but that hasn’t derailed Sheboygan’s South Pier project. A barge with construction equipment is now docked at the foot of the pier and work on the $51 million makeover will soon be underway in earnest.
The pier has been rebuilt several times since its first appearance in 1873. The latest work is for structure repairs that will take the Army Corps of Engineers until the end of 2022 to complete.
