SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – Construction on the expansion of Highway 23 in Sheboygan County will resume this coming Monday. The project to expand the highway to four lanes between Plymouth and Fond du Lac has been years in the making, having survived numerous budgetary and legal challenges, but grading of the new lanes finally began last year. Monday’s activity involves completion of that grading between the Sheboygan/Fond du Lac County line and County Highway “P” in the town of Plymouth.
Paving of the new lanes will begin this year, as will construction of an eastbound bridge over the Ice Age Trail, culvert, inlet and wetland mitigation work. Highway 23 will remain open during the project, which should be complete by the middle of next year.
