SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After a flurry of legal maneuvering on Monday that included intervention by the United States Supreme Court, the Spring Election in Wisconsin is a “go”. Meagan Wolfe, Wisconsin’s chief elections official said that: “How and where you vote may have changed because of COVID-19. Local election officials are prepared for Election Day with sanitation supplies and have been trained on social distancing procedures and other guidance….” and the State Elections Commission is asking voters to be careful and patient if they go to the polls today.
Voters are advised to visit myvote.wi.gov and click “Find My Polling Place” to locate your voting station.
Voters should wash hands before going to the polls, and wash or sanitize again when arriving at the polling place where sanitizing spray should be available. Polling places will look different due to social distancing and configuration changes for COVID-19. Because people may be asked to line up outside polling places or voting areas you’ll probably need extra patience. Steps have been taken to keep six feet separation between workers and voters alike. If you’re ill, curbside voting options should be available, and if you received an absentee ballot you have until 4 PM on Monday, April 13th to return the ballot to your municipal clerk’s office.
