SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – For the third consecutive day, an additional positive case of the Coronavirus has been reported in Sheboygan County. This represents the 10th case recorded here so far, part of the global COVID-19 pandemic. As of Monday’s report issued by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, only 4 cases were currently active, under home isolation and being closely monitored. Negative test results now number 123.
Governor Evers’ “Safer At Home” emergency order, in place until 8 AM Friday, April 24th, has closed most non-essential businesses, delayed the tax filing deadline and among other things, directs residents to remain in their homes if at all possible, and to leave only for necessary trips. Scrupulous cleaning of hands and surfaces and avoiding contact with others is also encouraged. The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health report suggests that if everyone follows the Governor’s directives, we could hope to see positive effects of the Safer At Home initiatives beginning in a few weeks, but it will likely take more weeks to progress to a point where rules are relaxed.
Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen called a special meeting of the Common Council at 5 PM Monday to publicly discuss measures already taken and proposed.
