SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The status of Wisconsin’s Spring Election on April 7th has been evolving at a feverish pace due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Some have urged a delay of the voting date, others have asked for an all-mail-in vote, and the Wisconsin State Elections Commission has had to call weekend meetings to address lawsuits filed by various parties seeking to either change or preserve the election structure, and, to challenge as illegal voter guidance provided by Dane and Milwaukee County Clerks.
Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen, along with over 300 municipal leaders, has asked Governor Evers to consider procedure changes that would reduce the chance for virus transmission on Election Day.
So far the only changes in Sheboygan concern polling locations. Wards 5 through 10 who voted at the Evangelical Lutheran Church will now vote at city hall, while wards 16, 17 and 18 who voted at First United Lutheran Church have been moved to the Municipal Court located in the Police Department on North 23rd Street.
