SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – A special meeting of the Sheboygan Common Council has been called for 5 PM today by Mayor Mike Vandersteen in order to update the community on the Coronavirus Pandemic and measures taken so far, and to be taken in the near future to address the situation. At the last Common Council meeting the city closed the Senior Activity Center, Water Utility Office and the Maywood Environmental Park. Since then, City Hall has been closed except for appointments, voting and council meetings, closed all parks and shelter rentals, suspended alternate side parking, and won’t charge a late fee on late pet licenses.
Tonight’s special meeting is expected to outline those changes and other subjects including the upcoming April 7th Spring Election. The status of that election has been the subject of ongoing, rapidly changing litigation at the State level, but the City is so far planning to hold it as scheduled except for changes in the locations of several .
