SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Adjusting to the Coronavirus emergency is hard on everyone, and that includes the Mead Public Library Board of Trustees. As noted in recently released minutes of their March 18th meeting, only three board members were physically present, while five attended remotely. The board discussed offering a curbside pickup option, but Board President Maeve Quinn voiced concern that strict protocols for no-contact and the risk of virus transmission may make that impossible. Most agreed that for now, electronic delivery was the best way to serve the public…and that’s when the electronic conferencing system failed and the remote attendees were disconnected. Once contact was restored it was decided to revisit the issue when things become clearer.
Another issue discussed involved the homeless population, numbering between 10 and 20 persons that normally populate the library every day. No solutions were found, but the Salvation Army and United Way are working on solutions while the library is closed to the public.
In the end, those and many other issues were determined to be in a state of flux, and it’s hoped that more will be known in a few weeks.
