SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The City of Sheboygan is calling out for people to work the polls on April 7th. The city, as well as most other municipalities, needs people to replace poll workers who are unable to serve due to age or health concerns regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Poll workers are compensated both for working the polls and for any training sessions, but a written declination of compensation is accepted from those who want to volunteer. Poll workers can work a full day, generally from 6:30 AM to 8 PM, but sometimes longer.
To qualify you need to be an eligible voter in Sheboygan County, be fluent in the English language and you must not be a candidate for any office appearing on the ballot where you serve, and you don’t have to be from the city to serve in Sheboygan.
Most other municipalities in the county are also looking for qualified poll worker candidates. Anyone interested in serving in Sheboygan on April 7th should contact the City Clerk’s office immediately at 459-3361.
