OOSTBURG, WI (WHBL) – Republican State Senator Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg has a problem with Governor Tony Evers’ emergency order requiring Wisconsin residents to stay at home, while providing exceptions for “essential businesses” and other actions.
LeMahieu said that he’s heard from numerous Sheboygan, Manitowoc and Calumet County employers outlining their serious concerns with that order. He said that small businesses have been at a loss as to how to comply, and are facing questions from scared employees. He added that one local manufacturing company with a global distribution network was forced to lay-off 250 employees on one day’s notice, but declined to name that company.
LeMahieu acknowledged that action is needed to protect Wisconsin families, particularly the most vulnerable, but he claimed that “Governor Evers is using a sledgehammer rather than a scalpel to address this crisis”, and said that “The Governor needs to rethink this order.”
