MADISON, WI (WHBL) – If your vehicle needs emissions testing for license renewal, you’ll get a break while waiting out the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Evers made that announcement on Monday.
Testing is required under state law, but the Wisconsin DOT and DNR came up with the extension. Those who have a routine vehicle registration renewal date after March 12th and require an emission test will have 90 days from the renewal date to complete testing and maintain valid registration.
If you obtained a new vehicle registration between January 26th and March 12th then you’ll have till June 10th to complete the emissions test. If you bought after March 12th, then you’ll have 90 days after the date of registration to get tested.
