SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Mead Public Library has refined the way it will operate while the doors are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Communications Specialist Josh Lintereur says that the library is now closed to the public and will remain closed until at least April 6th. While closed, due dates will be extended until re-opening and fines will not accrue.
Once open again, a five-day grace period to avoid fines will apply for returns. The library will continue accepting returns using the outdoor book drops, and Lintereur says that they’re working to implement curbside checkout of books, movies and other materials carried by the library. Cardholders can still access digital services, including ebooks, streaming services and databases, sign up for library cards and receive instant digital access through their website. Efforts are also underway to offer virtual programs such as book clubs and story times.
As of now, all library events and room reservations are canceled through May 24th. Mead Library’s status as a polling location for the April 7th election remains unaffected.
