SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Keeping up with every measure taken in response to the coronavirus pandemic is nearly impossible, but a few notables involving municipal services provided by the city include these:
The 2020 Citizen Academy of the Sheboygan Police Department has been cancelled and won’t be rescheduled this year, and the SPD’s fingerprinting service has been suspended until further notice.
Sheboygan’s Senior Activity Center will remain closed through Sunday, April 12th since Senior Citizens have been identified as a population vulnerable to COVID-19.
Mead Public Library, which had limited some activities already, has now cancelled all programs, events and meetings, including meeting-room reservations, through May 24th – that 10-week closure is one of the longest reported so far. Those cancellations will not affect the library as a polling location for the April 7th Spring Election.
Those who have made park reservations up until May 15th with the City of Sheboygan will have to find another location, and no new reservations will be accepted at this time. In addition, all Sheboygan public park restrooms and fish cleaning stations will be closed until further notice, and police will be monitoring those facilities according to Parks and Forestry Superintendent Joe Kerlin.
Also, the Sheboygan County Homebuilders’ Association is postponing the Home Expo, which was scheduled for March 27 – 29. They are looking at rescheduling the Expo in May.
