SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The City of Sheboygan is ready to put an over $900,000 grant to use in community development and housing activities, thanks to Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or “HUD.” Much of that will be targeted for street and park improvements, program administration and recreational facilities at Kiwanis Park.
Sheboygan Mayor Mike Vandersteen told WHBL news that some of the funds will be given to The Salvation Army, Safe Harbor, SCIO, Shoreline Metro, Family Service Association, Family Connections, Lakeshore CAP and Big Brothers/Big Sisters to help offset a portion of their budgets as they provide service to the community.
The Common Council will approve the recommended funds for those agencies at next week’s meeting, putting this year’s grant to work.
