MANITOWOC, WI (WHBL) – A Manitowoc man has been sentenced to life in prison for the death of a 2 year old boy. David Heiden was charged after police were called to an apartment in Two Rivers in April, where Gilbert Grant the Second wasn’t breathing.
Investigators say the child had a number of injuries, including bruises on his forehead, cheeks, back, and arms. The child later died. Heiden admitted to spanking the child, and shaking the toddler while yelling at him to go to sleep.
The child’s mother and another woman are also facing charges. The child’s mother, Rena Santiago, admitted to smoking marijuana in their apartment, engaging in prostitution, and told investigators that the child had been abused for months. Their roommate, Bianca Bush, is accused of hitting the child with a shoe and a belt. The roommate and the child’s mother are due back in court on child abuse charges in early March.
