
Karl Roger LaBine, age 72, of Sheboygan Falls, died peacefully with his family by his side at Sharon
Richardson Community Hospice, on Thursday, January 16, 2020, after a brief and aggressive battle with
lung cancer.
He was born November 9, 1947, to Clayton LaBine, Sr. and Dorothy (Kamps) LaBine in Two Rivers, WI.
He attended Jumbo Creek and Kiel grade schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in
1966.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971, spending one year in Vietnam and one year
in the Philippines. Karl was a member of Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612, where he
served as Commander and was on the Funeral Honor Guard.
He returned to Waldo and worked at Richardson’s Furniture Company. He then worked in construction,
masonry, and architectural design. He obtained his contractor’s license and designed and built homes in
Sheboygan County. Karl generously assisted family, neighbors and friends with re-modeling projects
and was often assisted by his friend Vince. Karl was a proud member of the Brick Layers & Allied
Craftsmen Union. On Friday, January 17, 2020, his son Shawn accepted his 25-year membership award
on his behalf.
Karl enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching football (especially the Packers) with buddy Rollie, NASCAR
and his Harley motorcycle. Most of all he enjoyed his work. He often said “you never go to work when
you enjoy what you do”.
Karl is survived by his children: Cherie Martin, (Sheboygan Falls, WI) Shawn LaBine, (Sheboygan Falls,
WI), Shannon LaBine (Deerfield, WI). Grandchildren: Kendrick LaBine, Jared Martin (fiancée Allonnetta
McDaniel) , Sadie Martin; DeAngelo LaBine (special friend Gwendolyn Coale), Giovanni LaBine, Hailey
LaBine, Lacey LaBine, Addilyn LaBine, Kaya LaBine (special friend Luis Calero). Sisters: Anita Klein
(Sheboygan, WI), Linda (Werner) Loos (Lyndenhurst, IL), Diane Gahagan (Parnell, WI), Wilma (Randy)
Clausing (Mesa, AZ), Brother: Clayton (Ginger) LaBine, Jr. (Mesa, AZ).
He is also survived by special friend: Phyllis Rountree, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Shelly LaBine, granddaughter: Britney Crawford, his parents:
Clayton and Dorothy LaBine, and brothers-in-law: Peter Klein, Jr. and Marvin Gahagan, Jr.
Following Karl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services with military rites and a
celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date.
A Memorial Fund has been established in Karl’s name and can be mailed to Suchon Funeral Home.
